(1) This payment is only applicable to maths, English and science teachers newly appointed to Hull schools. The payment (subject to the usual pay deductions) will be made in termly instalments and is subject to the applicant being employed in the post for an academic year and must be repaid in full if the teacher leaves within that period

(2) This payment is only applicable to maths, English and science teachers newly appointed to head of department in Hull schools. The payment (subject to the usual pay deductions) will be made in termly instalments and is subject to the applicant being employed in the post for an academic year and must be repaid in full if the teacher leaves within that period.

(3) This does include ALL newly appointed assistant heads and deputy heads including those appointed from other Hull schools and from posts within the same school.

  • Hull schools are defined as all schools within Hull Local Authority that have signed up to the Hull Offer.
  • Newly appointed is defined (unless otherwise stated) as all teachers newly appointed to schools that have signed up to the Hull Offer (including Hull Citywide GTPs taking up teaching contracts following their training year). It does not include teachers moving from post to post in the same school or teachers moving from school to school within the city. This offer is available only once to each teacher. It may be offered to teachers who have worked in Hull schools and left and are now returning at the schools and LA’s discretion. It only applies to teachers that are appointed to permanent positions employed directly by the school.
  • Teachers are defined as holding Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), awarded by the General Teaching Council for England (GTCE).
  • Maths English and science teachers are defined as above but must also be contracted to teach at least 80 per cent of their teaching time in the subject in which they specialised during ITT (which must have been maths, English or science).

“Moving to Hull was a fantastic life choice. I have a great house for my family and I also have the support of the LA and the school to make sure my career continues to develop.”
