Hull Schools

Secondary schools

Hull has seen steady improvements in its schools over a 10-year period but the challenge remains high and we are determined to address the issues which affect underachievement. We need to address this challenge utilising our strong partnerships with all sectors and agencies in the city.

Recent Ofsted reports have praised the high quality of teaching, high expectations, organisation, lesson planning, classroom management and the progress made by pupils.Hull’s £400m Building Our Future (BSF) programme will see secondary schools built and maintained by award-winning architects and builders and state-of-the-art ICT facilities will be available for every teacher in every school from 2012.

Hull is also at the forefront of 14-19 curricular developments and from 2009 onwards will have five Diplomas running across city schools. There will be opportunities to become fully involved in curricular development and work closely with a variety of award winning post-16 institutions in the city.
