Newly Qualified Teachers (NQT)

We're delighted that you are considering starting your teaching career in Hull.

All Newly Qualified Teachers have access to a personalised support and training programme during their induction year. This will involve professional learning in off-site settings, whole school sessions, one-to-one settings, self-study and professional reflection time undertaken within statutory NQT time.

Hull is one of the most exciting places in the country to work as a schoolteacher, as it is at the forefront of many innovative projects. The Building Our Future (Building Schools for the Future in Hull) programme will improve secondary education and multi-agency support, through an ambitious programme to rebuild or remodel all of the city’s secondary and special schools by 2016. The Primary Capital Programme, whilst smaller, will play its part in further improving primary education and resources.

Further investment in the city will see more work-based learning opportunities for 14-19s, new opportunities aimed at providing positive activities for young people, improved access to health care, and the physical regeneration of large parts of the city in terms of housing, active recreation and leisure.  There will be few cities in the country that can offer such an innovative, modern and rewarding environment in which to live and develop your teaching career.

There really could not be a better time to join the city!
