About Hull

Which city has been described by Time Out as “England’s nicest”? Hands up those who didn’t guess the right answer? Yes it’s Hull.

If the bible of the metropolis can be pleasantly surprised by what the city has to offer, then it’s a fair bet you will be too.

Hull has been transformed in recent years, especially since the regeneration of the city centre and dock areas, where iconic new buildings like the Deep and the Hull History Centre take their place next to restored Georgian and Victorian streets and houses.

Hull

Hull can boast no less than eight museums, all of them free, the award-winning Hull Truck Theatre and one of Yorkshire’s top art galleries.

There are loads of places to enjoy contemporary art and music and the city has an ice rink, four different multiplex cinemas, two bowling alleys, a karting circuit, and an impressive marina. Then there are the fabulous old pubs, winding, cobbled streets and lovely architecture in the Old Town, the Museum Quarter and The Avenues district.

Hull is also one of the least expensive places to live in the country and visitors regularly describe its people as amongst the friendliest in the UK.

A large number of ex-students who come to Hull for three years max, find there’s something about the place that makes them want to stick around. House prices are attractive and even first time buyers can find affordable waterside apartments in the new developments that ring the refurbished docks.

Humber bridgeIf city life gets too much, then there’s no finer sight than the Humber bridge, day or night. Not to mention the fact that the beautiful Yorkshire Wolds, seaside resorts of Bridlington and Hornsea and the stunning medieval architecture of Beverley Minster are all just a short trip away. Hull has a real buzz about it now – the Clipper Round The World Yacht Race started and finished in Hull and the Freedom Festival, a two day extravaganza of arts cultural events is now a firm part of the summer calendar. No wonder lots of people are discovering how nice Hull is… you could too.
